Adoption Process |
Potential adopters are interviewed before adoption to make certain that the temperament and needs of the Siberian husky is understood. |
Interview In order for us to make the best possible match, we need to know a little about you, your family, and your lifestyle. We do this through an interview. If you have children, cats, and/or other dogs, we need to know before placing a dog with you. We also want to make sure you understand the basic characteristics about Siberians (Oh, how they love to run!). We also want to know if you are interested in sledding, skijoring, agility, and/or other available activities with your dog. All of this information helps us make your match a dream come true. |
Meeting the dogs We would like you to meet the perspective dog at least two or three times before taking him or her home. We feel this helps the dog to adjust better. We generally recommend meeting the children and other family dogs on the second visit. These visits promote a positive experience for you and the dog from the very start. |
Trial period After adopting a dog from M.U.S.H.R., we will give you a trial period of two weeks. We find this helps make the transition for dog and new owner more relaxing and more enjoyable. And, if you need any help, a M.U.S.H.R. representative is always available to answer any question. |
Cost We do ask for an adoption fee when you adopt a dog from us. The adoption fee helps us ensure each dog receives the attention and care they need. |
w Dogs 9 months and older: $200 w Dogs 8 months and younger: $300 ($50 refundable after taking a training class.) |
Going home All dogs will be sent home with a small amount of food, treats, and a rolled leather collar with I.D. tag. If there is a particular toy and/or bed a dog likes, that will be sent home too. You will also be given the dog's medical history and schedule of when the next vaccinations are due. |
After Adoption When adopting a dog from M.U.S.H.R. there will always be someone available to help with any problems. New owners can call at any time with questions and receive help. M.U.S.H.R. will always be there for its dogs and their owners! M.U.S.H.R. also provides boarding and training for its alumni in order to help generate revenue for future rescues. Please call for a quote on price. |
